Hi! Welcome to Personally Andrea! If you’re new here, or visiting as part of the Year of Feasting series, it’s nice to meet you! Please sit back and enjoy a taste of summer, and be inspired for some summer entertaining. At the end of this post, you’ll find links to more party ideas from some beautiful Canadian blogging lovelies. Big thanks to Dannyelle at Life is a Party for hosting us!

So this week I invited some friends to join our family in the backyard for a campfire. I decorated with a Canada Day/Canadian outdoors theme to showcase some of my finds from Giant Tiger. We sharpened a few sticks collected from some fallen tree branches for roasting hot dogs and toasting marshmallows, which made for lots of fun and good conversation.   Add in some hot dog condiments, an appetizer and some Canada flag coloured annuals, and we were good to go.

I found these super cute camping themed containers at Giant Tiger and used them to hold condiments for the hot dogs. Besides that I just served up these really easy Caprese Skewers (recipe here), since they added to my red and white Canada Day theme.  A great party finger food.

For snacks and take-home favours I made a s’mores snack mix in these cute mason jar style mugs, also from Giant Tiger. Did you catch the instructions here for making them last week?  I also found the huge "Canada 150" commemorative tin of cookies, some fun Canada Day bandanas, and a faux-stump citronella candle.  These retro looking Stewarts sodas were a fun party beverage for guests of all ages.  And the camping scene printed toss cushion was a perfect fit too.

Everyone had a really fun evening, made easy for me with a casual menu and seasonal and fun decor.  The snacks and conversation continued until the sun set, when you could get out some sparklers for the kids or head out to watch the fireworks.  Of course, if you plan to use a backyard fire pit, be sure to check your local bylaws for the rules surrounding its use.

Now, as promised, here are five more ways to entertain this Canada Day.  I hope you enjoy them and come away super-inspired and with some ideas you can use yourself!

Happy Canada Day!
