Hi. My name is Andrea, and I’m an introvert. The last time I spent the whole entire day alone in front of a computer screen was today. But here I am, about to talk a whole lot about myself and put it out there to the online world. Why? Because the Blog Police say it’s required in order to be a Real Blog. Darnit. Here goes…
So did you catch the segue into this fact? I’m a blogger. Also a photographer and a homemaker, and I’m crazy lucky to be able to spend my time in these happy places…behind the camera lens, pecking away at my laptop, at home. Introvert.
I love being creative. I love it when other people are creative. To say I grew up in a creative home would be an understatement of epic proportions. Nothing was done that wasn’t done by hand, by us. Renovations, carpentry, landscaping, all done by my Dad. Cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, knitting, quilting, home decor, crafting of any kind, done by my Mom. And we were along for the ride. As a kid I did every kind of craft imaginable. Do you remember dried-apple face dolls? Macramé? Batik? Done. Needlepoint, cross-stich, rug-hooking, knitting, crocheting, sewing…done. Sand candles, ice candles, beeswax candles, wax-appliqued candles. Uh-huh. Did you ever make the little owls by stuffing cotton in the spaces of a pinecone then gluing on some googly eyes? Yup, me too. Papier-mâché, salt-dough, plaster, mod-podge. All very familiar to me. You get the idea…I come by it honestly.
When I thought I was grown up I got a degree in Business Administration and took a detour into the corporate world for five years. But after my first mat leave was over I stayed home to figure out life with a family and a husband who works hard and travels a lot because of it. I’ve never looked back.
Now we have three amazing beautiful kids plus a dog, and are doing a DIY top-to-bottom renovation on our second home, in the suburbs west of Toronto. I’m imost of the way through a Certificate in Digital Photography and have a fledgling photography business. You can see some of my work over on my Facebook page here and also on the social media pages of various brands.
Family life is hectic but I love it. There’s never a dull moment and I’m still trying to figure it out. Nothing can ever be organized enough for me. I stick to the tried-and-true in the kitchen…there’s no time for a fail when you’re feeding a busy family of five. I love things to be pretty, it cheers me up. HTML and roller coasters scare the crap out of me. Equally. I try to run our home with a value for things creative and hand-made, and the importance of investing yourself in the things you do.
Some of my favourite posts that reflect these ideals are these... Planting a Container Herb Garden, DIY Eucalyptus and Mint Foot Soak, Caprese Salad Skewers, Kate Spade Inspired IKEA Desk, and How To Take Your Own Family Photo (results of that shown above!).

So there you go, Blog Police. I did it. Thanks for the anxiety. Now you’ve all gotten to know me, and if you keep reading along you’ll get to know me even more as I write about my life day to day. And I’d love to get to know you too. Since you’re reading this little bloggy I already love you, so please please leave me a pretty comment once in a while and I promise I’ll reply. I’m not THAT much of an introvert.
Also, you can find me hiding in other places behind a screen. Come visit me and we can chat some more.
Sharing is lovely...
