Hello to my wonderful readers! It was hump day today, and perhaps you’re feeling it like I was. Who else is counting down the days of school left? And that also means it will soon be time to thank all the amazing people who have been instrumental in educating, caring for and transporting your children this school year. And here is what all those people will be receiving from our household. Do you like?
They start out like this. The cute little pots are from the dollar bins at Target. Rustoleum chalkboard paint which I am now always keeping a supply of. Never know when a chalkboard surface might be spontaneously required. And a little foam brush.
Swipe a couple of coats of the chalkboard paint onto the side of the pot, large enough for your message. If you prepare the painted surface per the instructions on the can, you could write the message in chalk. I’ve written mine with a Sharpie paint marker. So it doesn’t disappear before it reaches the recipient. It could happen. Just saying.
Pop in an herb plant of your choice. This one is lemon thyme which is delicate, pretty and trailing. I also did some with rosemary for a lovely upright style. Cover the soil with some spanish moss for a finished look. A wooden craft stick wrapped in twine makes a simple rustic plant marker. The lettering is done with a Sharpie so it doesn’t run when watering the plant.
Love having fresh herbs on the kitchen windowsill. Practical for cooking and they add a beautiful scent to the room. Hoping the village that helps me raise my children will love them too.
