If I could come up with a reason to sit and make pretty things to give away all the time, I would. I’m working on it, believe me! But when lovely girls come to your home to participate in a photography workshop, for sure they deserve something cute to take home.
Because I was setting up the space like a tea party, of course I was inspired to make something tea related. I had found these charming little spoons a while back, and was waiting for an opportunity to use them. Check out the trendy bamboo-like handle and the adorable little teapot at the tip!
Next I looked online for a great quote to use as part of the gift. The Goodreads site is easy to search for all kinds of book and reading related ideas. I was also hoping to find a great graphic to go with the quote. Obviously first stop for that is The Graphics Fairy. And I found exactly what I wanted. I pinned it here, but also go and check out her site if you ever could use a vintage graphic for anything.
So I organized the text and the image and cropped and centred it to fit on this card. OK fine, Mr. Personally had to come and save the day on that one. But I am slowly getting better at that kind of thing. Really! And I tucked it into a little notions bag from Creative Bag along with the spoon and a packet of tea.
To wrap it I simply sealed the top with a strip of washi tape, then tied the whole thing up with some bakery twine. Attach a tiny tag with a hand-written message. So much easier than trying to organize it on the printer! A rubber stamp message would also do the trick nicely if you’re not sure about the handwriting.
Whenever you are going to make a cute little something, you should always make at least one or two more than you need. Then tuck it away and you’re sure to have an occasion when you’ll be happy you had it on hand. A last-minute invitation, a forgotten birthday, you know what I’m sayin’, right? These would also be a great way to give a gift card from one of those fantastic chains of tea stores. So much more personal and pretty than the cardboard envelope they come with.
And do you hear the Good Lovelies on the playlist in the background as I write this? Some pretty, upbeat tunes while drinking my cuppa.
Anyone else for a drop of tea with me? Hopefully you have a sweet spoon to stir in your sweetener…
