Well it feels like we are in a full-on race and the finish line is March Break. Is anyone else feeling the need for a chance to change the pace and regroup? And what are the chances that we’ve seen our last snowfall this winter?…except maybe on the ski hills so the kids can still ski and snowboard during the Break…fingers crossed.

So do you ever have those days when you just didn’t get to the grocery store before dinner, there’s nothing fresh jumping out at you from the fridge, but you’re on a schedule to get through the evening? If it does then read further my friend, because this series of Suppertime Save posts is for me and for you.

So technically this is my hundred and first post, and the one hundredth was on Friday when I posted the photo framed here as my Photo Finish 6. One hundred posts. Wow. I don’t know if I really saw myself pursuing this so far…it started out as a whim…I was taking a course that involved a lot of photocriticism so I was looking for a forum to post some of my photography with some text to go along with it. And then I also thought Why don’t I post photos of the gifts and favours I sell so that customers can check them out online. So that’s how it began..…Honey, I need something techy…

Oh the weather outside is frightful. And I’m really done with freezing my hands and my camera trying to take pictures outside. Even brand new snowfalls piled beautifully on fences and tree branches don’t entice me anymore.

I don’t know if you’re like me, but sometimes an evening can fall apart for lack of a few groceries and a simple dinner to prepare. But I’ve ready plenty about the value of a regular family dinner time and seen the importance of it too. With the crazy and amazing schedules that most families live with though, the more tricks you can have up your sleeve to make dinner happen well, the better. This is the first of my Suppertime Save posts on how I try to keep our family dinners happening as much as possible by using staple ingredients and minimizing the need to plan.

So did we all have a super weekend? (See what I did there?) January is finally over, Groundhog Day and Superbowl excitement…something for everyone I’d say. To mark the beginning of February I decided to lighten up the decor around here a bit with some fresh flowers. I’m not up for redecorating the house because of Valentine’s Day. But there is a bit of a decor lull after Christmas, and a few spring-like hits of red and some hand-made-ness don’t hurt.
Photo Finish 3: Winter Clouds
The thing about living in the suburbs is that most of the scenery is really boring. Subdivision upon subdivision, big box stores, semi-industrial complexes, malls. It’s even worse now in this stage of post-ice-storm, partly melted and refrozen January bleakness. No funky or architectural urban landscapes. No mountain or ocean views.
