Canada Day S’more Snack Mix Jar Party Favor

A fun s’more inspired snack mix packed into a mason jar mug with a stamped shipping tag label.  An easy party favour for your Canada Day party.

Hi everyone! It’s been a long while since I’ve posted here, but there a few posts in the works now as we head into summer, and I can’t wait to share them! The first one is just a quick little idea for Canada Day. A fun snack mix that I’ve packaged up to give away as a party favour, in case you’re hosting any Canada Day celebrations.

This is just one little detail of a complete Canada Day party which you’ll see here next week, but for now, here’s this little gem!

It’s actually a variation on a theme you’ve seen here on this blog many times. Package something in an interesting and re-usable container, add a handmade label, and tie it all together. Just a few of the ways I’ve used this idea before:

Refrigerator Pickled Beans

For my Canada Day party, I was looking to send home a fun party favour with my guests. And since it was a campfire themed party (sshhh, forget I said that, it's a secret till the next post…) I was hoping to create something s’more inspired.

For the tags, I used my lower case alphabet stamps and black inkpad to stamp “happy canada day” onto shipping tags. Then I used a long length of twine (approximately five times the circumference of the container) to tie the tag to the neck of the jar.

Then I put together the snack mix.

Ingredients:  

(enough for four two-cup jars)

2 cups graham flavoured breakfast cereal
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups Canada Day (red and white) m & m's

Method:

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Wash some 500 ml mason jar mugs and dry thoroughly. Fill the mix into the mugs, or any re-usable container of your choice! A canning funnel helps this job to go quickly. Return the lids on to the jars and they’re ready to go!  A party favour to enjoy both now and later!
